I have started this blog after being put into a massive rage from, not only someone who doesnt know me, but lives opposite!
Apparently, we are benefit scrounging fraudsters.
They know NOTHING about us, least of all our income details.
All they see is my husband walk from the car to the house, and back again, yet apparently feel he is frauding the system.
Firstly, he claims a War Pension. He does not receive DLA.
He does get Incapacity Benefit, with a family element, but to be honest, if this was taken away, we would get MORE money with both of us on JSA than we do with the Incapacity Benefit.
I dont like being on benefits, and cannot wait to get back to work.... if there is ever a job to be found!
I just wish some people would walk a mile in someone elses shoes before judging and making assumptions.
My husband has irreparable damage to his knees and back. Has undergone 3 surgeries on his knees, none of which have done anything to help - in fact, I would say they have made things worse. For the last 6 years, my husband has been taking a cocktail of medication, which sometimes helps, sometimes doesnt.
My husband is his own worst enemy. The only way he can be comfortable is to sit/lie down when he can, walk around every 10-15 mins for a minute or so, and take the medication. However, life with 3 young children means he often fights through the pain in order to be a hands-on-dad, despite my telling him to stop! The problem being, he has always been active. He spent his late teens running long distances, and then joined the Army. He was a trained chef, so used to being on his feet for at least 12hrs a day. To go from that level of activity and intensity, to basically not being able to do anything without a lot of pain, takes its toll on his mental health.
He is on medication for depression, and has completed a short counselling course. He attends weekly physio appointments, and sees the GP at least once a month.
Will post again later.
